This course is designed for all staff and leaders to understand how the SEND Code of Practice is implemented throughout schools to help develop a culture that promotes SEND throughout the curriculum. This will ensure that everyone meets the legal requirements and has a good understanding of roles and responsibilities for SEND. The course will also touch on the ever changing picture of SEND in schools.

Course content:

• Understanding how schools should implement the SEND Code of Practice
• Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of varying approaches to supporting SEND using a relational approach
• Understanding who is responsible for the teaching of SEND
• Understanding what inclusion and intervention looks like
• Understanding the legal frameworks and any planned changes
• Understanding areas of need within the Code of Practice and some generic strategies for support
• Become knowledgeable and forward thinking
